To aid MSU Athletics in funding the additional $3 million annual revenue needed to support student-athlete scholarships, enhance the fan experience at Spartan Stadium and invest resources in the Spartan football program, MSU will establish a consistent public season ticket price ($308) throughout Spartan Stadium, increase the price of student season admission, and expand Scholarship Seating areas prior to the 2012 football season.

Season Ticket Cost

While the season ticket price will remain unchanged for approximately 72% of public ticket holders, the establishment of a consistent public season ticket price ($308) throughout Spartan Stadium creates equity among seating locations and maintains national competitiveness among rival institutions. Specific seat locations may require an additional Scholarship Seating gift (see map). At $308 per public season ticket, MSU football season tickets rank 7th among Big Ten institution football season ticket cost by comparison. The most expensive season ticket among Big Ten counterparts is $490, plus an applicable donation.

Student season admission will also increase by $4 per game.

Scholarship Seating

MSU, like most other Big Ten schools, implements a donation per-seat strategy for specific seat locations, in addition to the price of a season ticket. Prior to the 2012 football season, MSU Athletics will make the first adjustment to Scholarship Seating pricing since it’s inception in 2004 with the inclusion of end zone seating and upper deck seating on westside.

Considered tax-deductible (80%), Scholarship Seating gifts are an important component of financial support for MSU Athletics. In order to remain nationally competitive, we need all fans to have “both feet in” as demonstrated by their loyal season ticket purchases and annual Scholarship Seating gifts.

Sideline Club

The Sideline Club seating area of Spartan Stadium (first 7 rows of green chair back seating between the 20 yard lines) will see an increase in pricing to $1,750 (from $1,500) per seat.

Individuals seated within the various Scholarship Seating locations can be proud to know that their contributions fund student-athlete scholarships and, in turn, provide membership into the Spartan Fund, MSU Athletics fundraising department. By aiding scholarship support through contributions, MSU Athletics is able to invest additional resources into the football program and Spartan Stadium enhancements. Your Scholarship Seating gift, and any other tax-deductible contribution made to MSU Athletics within the fiscal year accumulates to determine your annual membership level and will increase your Spartan Points! Other benefits to Spartan Fund membership include ticket priority (based on Donor Priority Order), various invites to special events, selection priority (see here), access to the Spartan Ticket Marketplace, parking privileges, and much more!

Only one date to remember - June 30.

Recently, the Spartan Fund introduced a June 30 deadline for all athletic gifts (including Scholarship Seating gifts) beginning with the July 1, 2011 - June 30, 2012 fiscal year, aimed to simplify gift planning for donors. A June 30 deadline places all gifts intended for the upcoming school year into a single fiscal year, allowing donors to be given the highest membership level and benefits for their gifts.

$50 Membership - "Spartan Backers"

Beginning January 1, 2012, the Spartan Fund is proud to introduce it’s newest membership level - “Spartan Backers” - for cumulative gifts totaling $50 - $99 within the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Aimed at providing supporters of the program an entry membership level, Spartan Backers are at the forefront of supporting the Spartans!

Points Matter!

Spartan Points reward longevity, loyalty and generosity of supporters of MSU Athletics by accounting for consecutive years of season ticket purchase, donations, etc. Spartan Points are utilized to determine rank within the Spartan Fund Donor Priority Order (see chart) for distribution of Spartan Fund benefits. The Spartan Fund Donor Priority Order is assigned first by Spartan Fund membership level then by Spartan Points within each level.
